That sucks man, sorry to hear. If it's what you want to do I'd consider a loan. It's better to get training/education as soon as you can so you can get on a path to a fulfilling career.
It was insulting, the negotiator said id be flipping burgers and that I needed 3years experiance and not to bother with getting trained. She said my career choices in the past reflect a rougneck mentality and I should consider going into trades.
I sense your disappointment and am sorry to hear it.
There are ways forward though! A true-blue student loan is not hard to come by and neither is your own Linux box.
An MCSE cert is one way to get your feet wet, but beyond that they are staringly useless as career starters. Get a LAMP system going and self-host a blog - you'll be pleased with what you learn along the way.

Too bad man. I'll help support your new career as a powerlifter.

True Kafka. I got my MCSE 3 years ago and am just now reaping some of the rewards.. Experience is everything in this line of work.
Wedgie the idiot that told you not to bother getting training. Knowledge is power.
