Joyous news ----Well I just had a peek at a game that will utterly consume me. 'Age of Conan' brings fresh new gaming elements to an old story. When Funcom aquired the rights to the Conan universe they hired proffesional consultants on Robert E Howard Mythology to ensure a singular vision. If that wasnt suprising enough, this game will ship under the Mature tag with restricted access to minors. That is, from what I understand, quite a bussiness risk as they must exclude the larger share of the gaming demographic. It is also a monumental committment to Howards Universe. They are so confident with the property that they are willing to risk it all on the cult status of Conan and the niche market he occupies. If you have read the books you know this is deadly serious literature. To alienate the hardcore fans (like me) would result in swift retribution. However rest assured, I just watched the Dev commentary covering some technical basics. My first impressions made my SPIDER SENSE TINGLE. The mounted combat and the motion captured horse animation sucessfully demonstrates the lengths these dev's are willing to go to create a lucid world with respect paid to the natural laws of physics. The horse leans when you turn and actually prances like a pretty pony should. The enormous amount of features boggle the mind as well. There are purely thief based activities, so called "ganglands" where you loot and pick pockets in cities. There are large scale city building and conversely seige battles as player controlled guilds compete over territory. Check the vids, gamers, if you think you will have a life after 2007 and remember you cant spell SLAUGHTER without LAUGHTER.

“Combat, combat, combat and that’s basically what the game is all about,” said Gaute Godager of Funcom. This is how the demo for Age of Conan opened. Gaute focused on the different types of combat in the game. Hands-on combat focuses on action, depth, and control. Horseback combat gives the players a chance to boost strikes based on the speed of the horse, yes, you can decapitate people from horseback. Formation combat allows players to command NPCs, use tactics and create buffs. The formation style works well in dungeon crawls and party encounters. The last form of combat is Massive combat which covers sieges, raids and huge battles.

I just want to say that I will not tolerate any Conan Bashing. This game is a gift from Crom himself.

Bstyle, the graphics in CS:Source are better than Doom3 and Prey (which are supposed to be graphical wonderlands).
