Past Lives: Retribution

Monday, November 27, 2006

Im feeling a moment of clarity and am blessedly free of distractions. I am now in what I like to call 'Psychic Decompression' when the accumulated stress of assuming the roles life demands relax and I can correlate my recent history. Sometimes shit happens, the pressures of keeping body and soul attached can seem overwhelming. The quality of my existence is important. To maintain this biological machine requires more than merely eating and breathing. I must eat organic and breathe clean. I must spend time and reflect in solitude on how my behaviors affect my environment. I must be vigilant against spoiling my world. Every decision I make has consequences as the stone dropped in water will disturb the depths. How can I learn to improve myself from the mistakes I made? Create a reflection of the sky in still waters. You cannot see what lies above you while you stare below. Even the most conscientious can find themselves beset by tribulations. Many things are outside our control but we do have some small power in the way we react. By considering my past strategies I can compile minor adjustments that would facilitate my future goals. Because ultimately it is not about where we have been, but where we are going. We must all of us learn to stare at the sky from a dirty mud puddle. Oscar Wilde said it better.

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."

Magic and Mayhem

I got my computer upgraded and I am now playing through NWN2. I cant be sure but I think I may have stimulated neurogenic growth. The feats of mental acrobatics has no doubt reinforced my logic and compounded by the long trance state of rebuilding sophisticated electronics with a steady hand has raised my constitution and skills. I could add that I was short on help as my wizard companion shifted alignment from Lawful Neutral to Chaotic. Leaving me to study ancient Tomes and memorize incantations on my own. However the rewards are self evident as I have triumphed over adversity to create an attending spirit to conduct my nether powers and see through its eyes the horizon of distant worlds and predict the events of futures unfold.
Behold my new power.
The next week will be Cold.

Fimbulwinter

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

Since the onset of winter I have hardly seen that burning ball of gas which envelopes our planet in warm life sustaining radiation. I rise in the morning long before the Sun and spend any daylight hours indoors, leading me to sincerely doubt the presence of natural light. The dark winter has robbed me of my warm tan and rendered me pale. A frightening visage of unlife a soul unattached to the source. I cannot be sure whether the ringing in my ears is a consequence of Rawk or the prelude to Ragnarok played out upon the Horn of Valhalla. My long commute from the salt mines includes a treacherous winding road built by the military to servise a radar base. The abrubpt turns and twisting path was designed to deter hostile aviators from landing aircraft on Sovereign soil. Its legacy is a civilian death toll in the hundreds. I saw no less than four overturned vehicles and even one tractor trailer and cargo in the ditch. Every accident lit by emergency flares and ambulance strobes. The urge to stare in wild eyed horror overcoming my better senses and morbid fascination with carnage winning out over the bliss of ignorance.

You down with AGP?

Tuesday, November 07, 2006

Ya you know me, every few years I gotta upgrade my computer. Its like a kick in the balls. My brain has been hurting me for a week, ever since I bought NWN2. Yeah its a resource Hog my computer can limp along and shoulder the burden of weaksauce GrFX settings. But I want total immersion so Im moving on up to PCI-Express! wow what a cool sounding reason to waste my money. Sounds like a long distance plan. Its actually a technical term for the thing that the other thing plugs into. So they made a different kind of hole to plug things into and I gotta spend money, on a new hole (like I didnt have enough).

Nature is my dealer.

I have recently become concerned about the fatty tissue that grows upon my torso like moss on a damp rock. Cold winter brings about changes in mind and body the insticnt to feed and sleep becomes greater than common sensibilities. Modern man must ignore these reptile urges. Excess does not sit well within the metamind of western civilizations. Over eating and lack of excersice is a sign of weakness and a failure of restraint. My own self loathing has reached something of an impass mirrored by a debate raging within intellectual communities regarding the use of supplemental science and fitness.
Considering the demands our culture places upon the individual to work 50hours a week still find time to go to the gym and prepare healthy nutrional meals it must come as no suprise that need fueling innovation; science has largely solved this modern quandary with pharmacuticals. In a golden age of enlightenment, it falls to each of us to decide what lengths we are willing to go to achieve a lean body in a society of gluttony.

With proffesional athletes and icons using diet pills performance enhancing drugs and every chemical known to man to enhance their image and success it suprises me that the common person (myself included) would find exception to the use of chemistry or label it "cheating". Cheating at what I ask? What rules are being broken? Who made the Rules? Nature may not have granted us the ability to synthesis hormones but in her wisdom Nature also did not
cure Polio or give us anti-septics. If life is a game the dealer is Nature and the goal is to Win. Nature wants you to (win) I would bet my life.

The snow falls thick and frosty in the land outside my window. All hallows eve just days away. Winter walks with a thousand silent footfalls. I must prepare myself mentaly for the ensuing war on boredom. One must not win a battle and lose a war. Luckily there are new allies in my fight against insanity. The Nintendo wii will be released in a few weeks. While its name is offensive to my ears its capacity for fantasy soothes the slights. It will be glorious and no mistake. Meanwhile I must see to the House of Bushell and take care of the livestock and supplies. We will need copious amounts of Peppermint Schnapps and Hot chocolate (with little marshmallows) to survive the long dark season. Dry goods and pastries must be replenished to ensure I do not resort to cannibalism. Good books to read and warm socks to ward away the dry cold on spirit and body. Entombed inside a prison of Ice. I will bide my time.

Country Mouses Guide to Economics

Saving Money
Heres a tip to city mouse from country mouse. You enjoy refreshing beverages? Prehapes you have an exotic taste for delicious eastern tea? That way when you drink it, you can feel all fancy with your hard to pronounce drink and your big brain and big words. You think to yourself 'I need to go to a special coffee shop where they service my frivilous impules'. So you walk into starbux "Gimee a Chai Latte" you say's to the half crazy baristo. Only thats when youre big brain just plum stops thinking. You hand over some extravagent amount of money and you get milked instead of the other way around. So heres a Tip City mouse, go next door to the grocery store and buy yourself some chai tea mix, the same stuff they sold you at the coffee shop only you get 10x the amount of refreshing beverage for the same price. You can still staisfy your need to feel better than everyone else; only this way you are at the least, a little richer.

Friday the 13th - Not a Podcast

Friday, October 13, 2006

Its friday morning and oddly enough it is also my "friday night" Being that I have been awake since thursday and I just got off work. Short work week but meh felt long. I did manage to coerce a handful of crew member to go to Denny's with me after work. Cool on several accounts. Being I dont need to take the bus from ClearLake *read buttfucknowhere* and I dont have to forage for whatever crap food my significant other buys. I know she reads this shite so I'm gonna go ahead and preemptively strike her ass with the obligatory (oh no you didnt) Oh yes I did!!! Twenty+ liters of milk and no chocolate syrup= total bullshit. I know its not a lot to complain about but its all I got. So it was good to hang out with the Red Crew, they have less comraderie so its nice to see them outside of the work environment. I even picked up my (coveted) second UFC Party invite. I really want to attend as I flaked out on the first one and missed a chance to show off my MAD DDR skillz. I later learned at work that these UFC parties are an exclusive affair by invite only and that not everyone gets invited, only the cool kids. I kinda told my Matriarch that I would make the three hour drive to go visit her but several factors have diminished the odds of that event taking place. I have bronchitis, yeah it sucks, I smoke so I have no one else to blame however I know its a viral strain as half the slaves at work have it. The good news is bronchitis is nothing like pneumonia and besides affecting my joie de vivre it has little impact. I do not wish to expose anyone unecessarily to this potential health risk. So consider thyself warned. Being Flu season my Slave Owner has impressively offered to immunize me against the big strain going around. I have never had a flu shot before but be damned if Im not getting one this year. Im actually looking forward to getting the needle. I more than a little paranoid and the thought of being injected with a virus has always set off alarms in my brain. There was no way I was going to let some tards in white coats stick me with some dirty organism of dubious origins. But now that Im older and wiser I have an easier time of correlating events to my opinions and Im willing to shift paradigms. It seems that the people society hold in highest regards are the ones that are immunized, doctors, nurses, elders, generally speaking we dont want these precious natural resources to perish. So it makes sense that a dose of flu might be just what the doctor ordered. I also just want to mention that had I recorded this blog and posted it as a mp3 file it would have been a podcast, which mostly had nothing to do with Friday the 13th but if it had would have been much more interesting. I would have talked in dulcet tones about the origins of this unlucky date and how the knights Templar were crushed or that counting Judas there were 13 apostles. I could have spent a moment discussing the cost of lost profits on this particular date and the impact it has on the economy. I could have presented evidence to the contrary but ultimately Im tired and this post is running long, so everyone be careful out there today because its unlucky or not.

Happy Food Festival

Monday, October 09, 2006

Thanksgiving today hmm, I bought some turkey steaks to avoid the long and tedious process of preparing the feast of roast beast. Stuffing trimmings all the works and faster than you can say jack rabbit. I also managed to hit the Gym today breaking a long absence from the inner sanctum of strength. I had a lot of free time this weekend and mostly spent it cleaning up the yard harvesting the pumpkins putting the garden to rest for the long winter. Cleaned out the toolshed that sort of thing. I will also be moving my study back to its rightful place, beneath the dark good earth down below in the dungeon. I did manage to fire off a doodle while I was twiddling my thumbs at 3am last night, I'll be using it as my new profile pic.

Jehova has Minions

Sunday, October 08, 2006

I got woke up by churchies this morning. My whiskers thick and unshaven my hair greasy and unmanagable, body naked I wrapped myself in a blanket and answered the door. Two women, one fortyish the other fiftyish. They clucthed the watchtower and a thick leather bound bible. My brain was still slow from the sleep but I did get a grunt out of my mouth. They took that as assent to a convo. They apologized for rousing me from bed and suggested I take a moment to listen to them pitch their God. Well I admired their gumption, these old ladies had stones to invite themselves into a strange naked mans house. I was almost tempted to humour them. It was a trap, let two inside and suddenly you have an infestation of Jehovas. They can smell the ripe unconquered will, they will send two more crusaders and invite four inside and the next thing you know you are hosting bible study shunning festivals for its sin and strapping on a suit and tie to go convert the heathens. "No thank you" I said to the ladies, warily eyeing their watch tower flyers in case they were about to pull the pin and toss the heavy ordinance at me. I guestured towards the large gothic crucifix which adorned the wall behind me " I have faith and Godbless" I purchased that crucifix for just these kinds of scenarios. As a Talisman goes it is very powerful. It will ward off Vampires, Jehova Witness' and all manner of evils. They glanced at my Cross nodded smiled and departed.

Podcasting is not Cool-A rebuttal.

Thursday, October 05, 2006

Ok so I got into an argument today. I was informed by a certain strumpet that my knowledge of Podcasting makes me "nerdy" or "uncool" This is not unfamiliar to me. All pioneers face ridicule and exclusions until the common consensus grants approval to whatever afore mentioned uncool activity. Back in the early nineties I totaly loved pirates so I got my ear pierced and put some gold hoops and massif bling. I was belittled by my friends without mercy for years until they had reached by common consensus the agreement that earings were not in fact gay but were Edgy. It just so happens that the difference between edgy and trendy is a small fraction of time. Some of us live on the edge of human experiance and some of us lag behind and mock true individuals for their eccentric behavior. They laughed at Columbus and they laughed at Podcasting.
